ABSENTEE BALLOTS

· Absentee Ballots are available to registered voters if:
· You are 60 years of age or older
· You expect to be absent from the community the entire time the polls are open on election day
· You are physically unable to attend the polls without assistance
· You cannot attend the polls because of religious beliefs
· You have been appointed a precinct inspector in a precinct other than where you reside
· You are confined to jail awaiting arraignment or trial

Remember, if you registered by mail, you are not eligible for an absentee ballot for your first election.

Absentee ballots are available at the Township Office on Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. An application for an absentee ballot is available (click here).

You may also fax or email your request: 361-2315 or clerkoffice@grandrapidstwp.org.

Grand Rapids Township has a permanent list of voters who have requested ballot applications sent to them each election. If you would like to be added to that list, please send a note with that request to the Clerk's Office or you may call the Clerk's Office at 616-855-5803.

If you have requested an absentee ballot and would like to check on the status, go to the www.michigan.gov link and type in your voter information. The Absentee Voter Information section will show the ballot status.


VOTING EQUIPMENT

If you would like to be an Election Inspector, please complete the application and submit the application to the Clerk, 1836 East Beltline Avenue NE, Grand Rapids MI 49525. APPLICATION FOR ELECTION INSPECTOR


VOTER REGISTRATION

You are eligible to vote if you are:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • At least 18 years old on or before the next election
  • A resident of Michigan
  • Registered 30 days prior to the next election

You are not required to re-register for each election unless you have moved or changed your name. For moves within Grand Rapids Township, you can call the 616-855-5803.

You can register to vote at any:

Assistant clerk for voter registration at specified government agencies
By mail (Important reminder if you register by mail - you must vote in person
for your first election)
